About Andrea Shaw

Andrea Shaw is a paint and textile artist living and working in Torquay, on Victoria’s Surf Coast/ Wadawurrung Country.

Andrea’s works bring together aspects of landscape with intuitive mark making and collage. An abstract representation of time spent and felt in the landscape derived from pattern, colour and process.

Working from quick sketches made out on walks and memory her works are dynamic, playful snapshots responding to the ever-changing forms within the landscape.

Andrea graduated with a BA in Textile Design from RMIT in 2008. Alongside her studio practice she works as an art facilitator privately and at Studio 92, a funded art studio and gallery. She has facilitated workshops for the Geelong Gallery, Desa Retreat, Homework Textiles, The Bellarine School of Art, The Geelong College, Kardinia College and Geelong Grammar School.

She has had seven successful solo shows in Melbourne and Geelong and has been curated into multiple group shows around Australia and Japan along with being a recipient for multiple grants and Artist in residence opportunities.

Her original works can be found at Boom Gallery and Brunswick Street Gallery.
